Over the past four years since the launch of the PS5, we’ve been committed to evolving the console experience and delivering the outstanding games our players expect. Today, I’m thrilled to announce the next step in that journey: introducing the PlayStation 5 Pro, the most advanced and innovative console hardware we’ve ever created.
We designed the PS5 Pro with passionate gamers and game developers in mind, responding to requests for higher fidelity graphics and smoother frame rates, particularly at 60FPS. With several key performance enhancements, we’ve achieved this on the PS5 Pro.
- **Upgraded GPU**: The PS5 Pro features a GPU with 67% more Compute Units and 28% faster memory than the standard PS5, resulting in up to 45% faster rendering for a much smoother gameplay experience.
- **Advanced Ray Tracing**: The new ray tracing capabilities on PS5 Pro provide more dynamic light reflections and refractions, with rays being cast at double or even triple the speeds of the current PS5.
- **AI-Driven Upscaling**: Introducing PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution, an AI-driven upscaling technology that enhances image clarity and adds remarkable detail for super sharp visuals.
The PS5 Pro delivers stunning graphics at high frame rates, and Mark Cerny, lead architect of the PS5 Pro, provides an in-depth look at its key innovations in an upcoming video presentation.
Additional features include PS5 Pro Game Boost, which enhances the performance of over 8,500 backward-compatible PS4 games, offering improved frame rates and resolution. It also supports Wi-Fi 7, VRR, 8K gaming, and enhanced image quality for select PS4 titles.
Game developers have embraced the PS5 Pro’s advanced technology, with several games receiving free updates to utilize its new features. Look for the "PS5 Pro Enhanced" label on games such as *Alan Wake 2*, *Assassin’s Creed: Shadows*, *Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth*, *Marvel’s Spider-Man 2*, *Demon’s Souls*, *Gran Turismo 7*, *Horizon Forbidden West*, and more.
The PS5 Pro maintains the same design language as the original PS5, with identical height and width to accommodate its enhanced performance. Players can also customize their console with swappable covers and an optional Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc Drive.
The PS5 Pro is fully compatible with existing PS5 accessories, including PlayStation VR2, DualSense Edge, and the Pulse Elite and Pulse Explore headsets. The user interface and network services will remain unchanged from the PS5.
Launching on November 7, 2024, the PS5 Pro will be priced at $699.99 USD, £699.99 GBP, €799.99 EUR, and ¥119,980 JPY (tax included). Each console comes with a 2TB SSD, a DualSense wireless controller, and a pre-installed copy of *Astro’s Playroom*. Preorders begin on September 26, 2024, and the console will be available at participating retailers and on direct.playstation.com.
We want to thank the millions of players who have supported us throughout this journey. Whether you choose the PS5 or PS5 Pro, our goal is to deliver the best gaming experience tailored to your needs.
*Note: Features are available on select PS5 games enhanced for PS5 Pro. Performance will vary by game.*
